USER AGREEMENT AND TERMS OF USE

This User Agreement and Terms of Use (“Agreement”) governs the conditions applicable to the use of the sepder.org website operated by the Social and Economic Perspective Association (“SEPDER”), as well as the use of online services relating to user accounts, congresses, symposiums, conferences and other academic activities.

Any individual who uses the sepder.org website, creates a user account, or applies through the website to activities organised by SEPDER (“User”) shall be deemed to have accepted the terms set forth in this Agreement.

1. Scope of Services

SEPDER may provide services through its website including the announcement of academic and scientific events, receipt of congress and symposium applications, creation of user accounts, submission of academic works and monitoring of evaluation processes.

SEPDER reserves the right to modify, improve, restrict or discontinue the scope, content or operation of the services offered on the website where necessary.

2. User Account

The User agrees that all information provided when creating an account is accurate, up to date and belongs to the User.

The User is responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of the username, e-mail address, password and other access credentials associated with the account. If the User becomes aware of any unauthorised use of the account, the User should notify SEPDER as soon as reasonably possible.

Creating an account on behalf of another person without authorisation or using false or misleading information is prohibited.

3. Congress and Symposium Applications

Users may apply through the website to congresses, symposiums, conferences and similar academic events organised by SEPDER.

Application dates, participation requirements, fees, academic evaluation criteria, publication conditions and other specific terms applicable to each event shall be separately announced on the relevant event page.

The User agrees that all information and documents submitted as part of an application are accurate and complete.

Submission of an application does not mean that the academic work will necessarily be accepted or that participation in the relevant event is guaranteed. Applications are subject to the academic and administrative evaluation procedures of the relevant event.

4. Academic Works and User Responsibility

The scientific and legal responsibility for papers, abstracts, full texts, presentations, research materials, images, tables and other academic content submitted to SEPDER belongs to the relevant User and/or the authors of the work.

The User represents and undertakes that any work submitted to SEPDER:

  • is original or that the necessary rights and permissions for its use have been obtained,

  • does not infringe the intellectual property rights of third parties,

  • does not contain plagiarism or violations of academic ethics,

  • complies with applicable obligations relating to personal data protection and research ethics.

SEPDER may exclude from evaluation any work found to be contrary to academic ethics, applicable event conditions or relevant rules.

5. Intellectual Property Rights

Intellectual property rights in academic works submitted by Users to SEPDER remain with the relevant author, subject to applicable legislation and the specific publication conditions of the relevant event.

Where a work is accepted, the User grants SEPDER the necessary right to use and publish the work, within the scope of the announced publication conditions of the relevant event, in the event programme, abstract book, full-text proceedings, SEPDER website or other academic publications related to the event.

SEPDER logos, designs, texts, graphics, images and other content available on sepder.org may not be reproduced, modified or used for commercial purposes without permission.

6. Payment Transactions

For paid events, application or participation fees shall be stated on the relevant event page.

Specific provisions concerning payment, cancellation, refunds or postponement of an event shall be governed by the announced terms of the relevant event.

The User agrees that the information provided during a payment transaction is accurate and that the User is authorised to make the relevant payment.

7. Prohibited Uses

The User may not use the SEPDER website for unlawful purposes, attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the system, seek unauthorised access to another User’s account, upload malicious software or similar content, or engage in activities that infringe the rights of SEPDER or third parties.

In the event of a violation of these provisions, SEPDER may temporarily or permanently restrict, suspend or terminate the relevant User account.

8. Continuity of Services

SEPDER takes reasonable measures to ensure that the website operates properly and remains accessible.

However, SEPDER shall not be held responsible for temporary interruptions caused by maintenance, updates, technical failures, cyberattacks, internet or infrastructure problems, or other circumstances beyond SEPDER’s reasonable control.

SEPDER may temporarily suspend access to all or part of the website for planned maintenance or system development purposes.

9. Protection of Personal Data

Users’ personal data is processed in accordance with Turkish Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data and other applicable legislation.

Detailed information regarding the purposes and legal grounds for processing personal data, the parties to whom such data may be transferred and the rights of Users is provided in the SEPDER Privacy and Personal Data Protection Policy and the relevant KVKK clarification notices.

10. Third-Party Links

sepder.org may contain links to third-party websites, academic resources, social media platforms or other digital services.

Such links are provided for convenience. The content, security and data processing practices of third-party websites are outside SEPDER’s control.

11. Suspension or Termination of Accounts

SEPDER may suspend or terminate a User account where use contrary to this Agreement, applicable event conditions, academic ethics rules or applicable legislation is identified.

The User may also request closure of the User account by contacting SEPDER.

Closure of an account does not require the immediate deletion of records that must be retained under applicable legislation or for the establishment, exercise or protection of legal rights.

12. Amendments to the Agreement

SEPDER may amend this Agreement where required by legal, technical or operational needs.

The updated version of the Agreement becomes effective upon publication on sepder.org. Users are advised to review the current terms before continuing to use the website.

13. Governing Law

This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye.

Any disputes arising from the implementation of this Agreement shall be subject to the jurisdiction and competence rules provided under applicable legislation.
